But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts of Apostles 1:8
About the Teams
The formation of ministry teams is the result of the 21 days fasting and prayer in September 2017. Five ministry teams were formed that focus on specific needs of the people in the society. The leaders for these teams were chosen prayerfully and those who are inclined to do ministry particularly focusing on the needs joined the teams. The names of the teams reflect the goal of each team. The teams get together for prayer and planning once in a month.
“ But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst” – John 4: 14
This group ministers to people who are thirsty, and those who are search for satisfaction. The chief goal of the team is to provide the Living Water that is Christ Jesus to the lost.
The team would meet people individually, and their families, conduct prayers in their families and engage in other appropriate ministry that will nurture them in Christ.
“ Like new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” 1 Peter 2:2
The purpose of this group is reaching out those who are spiritually weak in the community, as well as those who struggle in their Christian life. The ministry of the team intend to revive their passion to read and study Bible, rebuild prayer life and fellowship, which will enable them to lead a victorious Christian life. The people who are spiritually dry are looking for some refreshments.
“ Is any one among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and the let them pray over him anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.’- James 5: 14-16
Sickness is a difficult period of anyone’s life. It is during this time many draw closer to God and even connect with God in a meaningful and deeper way. This group focus on people who are sick and minister to them. The team identify those who are sick and pray with them for healing and help them face difficult situations in life by visiting in their houses, hospital or nursing homes.
This will be also a valuable opportunity to know Christ and accept Him as their Saviour.
“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth” – Psalms 119: 103
People around us are going through great pain, agony. In book of Ruth, Naomi after she lost her husband and two sons said’ please don’t call me Naomi (which means pleasantness), but call me Mara (which means bitterness).”
People in the society often undergo ‘Mara’ situation due to various reasons. They become so desperate to receive sweetness and resort to various options of the world which would not give them true satisfaction. Only a personal relationship with Jesus and the Word of God will help in these situation. So this group minister to people individually and in group and provide them the Word of God to heal their “Mara”.
This would lead them to Christ.
Prayer is vital for the success of Christian ministry. As a church, we believe that in spite of meticulous planning and preparation prayer is inevitable for God’s guidance and also for reaping fruits through all the ministries of the church. ‘Anointing oil’ in the Scripture indicate setting apart someone for ministry. Thus, while others are actively engaged in ministry this this group provide them with prayer support. They regularly engages in intercession for various missions, pastors and the leaders of each ministry team. The team collect prayer requests and encourage others to pray regularly; organize prayer sessions that engage others in prayer.
